Welcome to our Picture Gallery
(Last Updated on April 27, 2005 22:16 )

Here you will find a collection of pictures and videos that we have amassed over the years.  The pictures are arranged into galleries of common themes or subjects. I'll be adding more galleries and videos as time and events allow.

Club Flying Meets - February 2004

Our last batch of photos from Halswell Community Hall, this album is of photos taken at three meets on the 9th, 16th, and 23rd of February, 2004.

The album features Deane, Greg, John M, Jon W, Rob, and Sean and their machines.  Jon's FUN Piccolo and Ikarus Huey feature prominently as the two 'new' machines in this period.

Please note that we are experimenting with another hosting provider, so the above link will take you to a website out of the christchurch.microhelis.com domain.  The "Back to Gallery Home Page" link will bring you back to this page.

Club Album - January 2004 (incorporating Nov/Dec 2003)

It seems that we have all became a little less camera mad over the past few months, with a lot fewer shots being taken.  To make matters worse, a whole heap of photos that I took over December and January were taken in the wrong mode, and proved to absolutley useless.

So for January 2004, I've compiled up an album consisting of the few shots I could retrieve, plus some shots from the last three months that haven't previously been shown.

A bit of a departure from the norm, we have a few 'outside' shots in this album.  These include our very own Andrew doing Ground Crew Duty for the Hughes 500 at the Christchurch Show, November 2003, and Rob's Piccolo sunning itself at Araroa Harbour in January 2004.

The album manages to catch most of the members and/or their machines, including some nice side-by-side comparision shots of Jon's Hornet II alongside Mike's CP Hornet (Mk1)

In this album you will find shots from November 2003, December 2003, and January 2004. - Go to the January 2004 Gallery

Club Flying Meets - November 2003

November 2003 was a busy and eventful month, and the gallery for this month certainly reflects that.  These pictures were all taken on the 10th and 24th of October meetings.  For some reason the photos focused on hardware rather than pilots this month.  Dean and Jason are the only two photgraphed flying, but oh the hardware!  In this gallery you'll find Deane's Jet Turbine, along with Deane's new Raptor 30 V2.  Andrew's Voyager-E also puts in an appearance, along with Jon's Bitsa and his cardboard AH-1S.

This Gallery features Dean and Jason flying, Deane's Jet Turbine and Raptor 30 V2, Andrew's Voyager E, and some great shots of the little helis rubbing shoulders with the big boys. - Go to the November 2003 Gallery

More Recent Times - October 2003

These pictures were all taken during October 2003 at our 1/10 and 8/10 meets.  Andrew, Mike, Deane, and their respective machines all feature in this album.  As Jon was doing the camera work, we only see a cameo appearence of his helis, and nothing of Jon himself.  The fact that Jon was camera man does go part way to explaining the poor quality of the shots :).

This Gallery features Andrew, Deane, Mike and their respective machines, plus a cameo from Jon's warbirds :) - Go to the October 2003 Gallery

RNZAF Visit at Wigram Aerodrome - July 2002

In July 2002, the Royal New Zealand Air Force were running an exercise at Wigram Aerodrome, Christchurch.  Don managed to arrange for the group to make a visit to have a real close look at the Bell 47G-3 (AKA OH-13) helis that the RNZAF use for training.  Don also took us for a tour of the old control tower (Wigram used to be an RNZAF base), and to have a close-up look at his Micro-light.  He even ended up giving us a brief flying demo!  It was a great day for sure.

In this gallery you'll find pictures of an RNZAF Iraquois, lots of shots of NZ3705 Bell 47-G3, including some great close up detail shots for the scale modellers.  There are also pictures of Don's Micro-light, including take-off and climb out pictures. - Go to the RNZAF visit Gallery

The Early Days - February 2002

All the pictures in the Early Days Gallery were taken on Feb 24th 2002.  At this stage we had five flyers and four helis (Deane was giving Don flying time on Deane's machine).  Already Jon was developing 'bleeding edge' tendancies, with his FP Piccolo sporting an Orion Elite Modifed motor, and two ex-laptop 18650 li-ions for a power supply.

This Gallery features Andrew, Deane, Don, Jon and Sean and thier respective machines - Go to the Early Days Gallery

Video - Rob flying his Ikarus ECO Piccolo at the hall - 03 November 2003

A little test video I did just to see how well my little camera went doing video.  The video is just 45 seconds long, and shows Rob's Piccolo hovering about, along with Rob and Andrew.  I stopped filming 15 seconds too soon, as Rob had a wee 'incident' just seconds after I stopped fliming.. I'll get it next time Rob :)  WARNING - this video is a 1.2MB Zip file, so if you're on a dialup connection it will take around 5 minutes to download. - Click Here to download the video.

Video - Rob's RNZAF Bell 47G-3

A great 2.5 minute video of Rob's Bell 47 in action at the hall.  Andrew is piloting and Rob's doing the camerawork.  WARNING - this video is an 8MB Zip file, so if you're on a dialup connection it will take quite a while to download! - Click Here to download the video.

Video - Andrew's Hornet with onboard cam!

A brilliant 7 minute video filmed and produced by Rob.  It features both onboard camera footage and external footage of Andrew strutting the Hornet''s stuff with an on-board camera - great soundtrack too!  WARNING - this video is a 27MB Zip file, so if you're on a dialup connection it will take a VERY long time to download! - Click Here to download the video.
